claude invoice download not working

Learn how to fix issues when downloading Claude Pro or Anthropic API billing invoices and get your tax receipts.

Updated 8/19/2026Powered by Tickd.ai

If you use Claude Pro or the Anthropic API for business, getting hold of your monthly invoices is essential for accounting. However, many users find that the billing dashboard fails to load, the PDF download button is unresponsive, or the generated invoices are missing essential tax information like VAT and GST numbers.

Because Anthropic handles billing through Stripe's external portal, browser configurations, ad-blockers, and session timeouts frequently disrupt the checkout and document download flows. If you are struggling to get your receipts, use these practical steps to fix the issue.

Check for browser pop-up blockers

When you click the billing or invoice download button in the Claude interface, the site attempts to open a secure external Stripe customer portal in a new window or tab. Many modern web browsers categorise this redirect as an unwanted pop-up and block it silently.

Look at the right-hand side of your browser's address bar for an icon with a red cross or a window symbol indicating a blocked pop-up. Click this icon and select 'Always allow pop-ups and redirects from claude.ai' (or console.anthropic.com if you are using the API dashboard). Refresh the page and try initiating the download again.

Access the billing portal directly

If the interface remains stuck loading, bypass the primary dashboard links. For Claude Pro users, log in to your account, click your profile initials in the bottom-left corner, and head to Settings > Billing.

If the billing page fails to display or load your invoice history, you may be experiencing a broader session error. Read our guide on what to do if the /fix/claude-app-wont-load to resolve underlying interface freezes. For API users, ensure you are logged into the Anthropic Console, click on the Billing tab, and select Payment History to view generated PDF links.

Separate your API and Claude Pro accounts

A common point of confusion is looking for invoices in the wrong dashboard. Anthropic operates two entirely separate payment systems. Claude Pro (the consumer chat interface) and the Anthropic API (for developers) do not share billing details or invoice histories.

If you paid for API credits but are logged into the consumer chat portal, your invoice will not appear there. Make sure you log in to console.anthropic.com to retrieve developer invoices, and use claude.ai for personal subscription receipts. If you are experiencing general payment errors across either platform, refer to our comprehensive guide on resolving /fix/claude-billing-problem.

Disable privacy extensions and VPNs

Security-focused browser extensions, privacy shields, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) can block the secure scripts Stripe uses to verify your identity and generate PDF files.

If your invoice download fails to start, temporarily disable extensions like uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, or Brave Shields for the Anthropic website. If you are connected to a corporate VPN, disconnect temporarily, as strict firewall rules often block direct downloads from external financial domains like stripe.com.

Update your billing and tax ID details

Invoices will not download with local tax details (such as EU VAT, UK VAT, or Australian GST) unless these details were saved to your payment profile before the billing cycle ended.

To update your business details for future invoices, go to your billing settings, click Update Information, and input your registered business name and tax identification number. Note that Anthropic cannot always retroactively regenerate past invoices with updated tax information; in this scenario, you must raise a request through the in-app support widget to have their billing team manually adjust your past receipts.
