Claude App Stuck Loading: How to Fix
White screen, endless spinner, or a chat list that never appears — here is how to get the Claude app loading again.
Updated 8/13/2026
A permanent spinner usually means the Claude client cannot finish authenticating or cannot fetch your conversation list. Both are recoverable without losing your chats.
Clear stale session data
Claude stores your session in browser local storage. When that data becomes corrupted, the app loads a shell and stops. Sign out, clear site data for claude.ai in your browser settings, then sign back in.
Try a different network
Loading failures cluster around restrictive networks. Corporate firewalls, school Wi-Fi and some VPN exit nodes block the endpoints Claude needs. Switch to mobile data as a quick test.
Update or reinstall the mobile app
On iOS and Android, an outdated build can fail against a new API version. Update from the App Store or Play Store, and reinstall if the update alone does not help.
Check for a service incident
If the spinner appears for everyone, it is an Anthropic-side problem. Our live status page shows the current state.
Disable hardware acceleration
On desktop Chrome, a broken GPU driver can render a blank white page even after the app loads. Turn off hardware acceleration in Settings and relaunch.
If the app loads but answers never arrive, see Claude not responding. If you are locked out at sign-in because of a lapsed subscription, start with Claude billing problems.
