claude app no network connection

Fix the Claude mobile app network connection error and resolve DNS, VPN, or local network blocks preventing the app from working.

Updated 8/22/2026Powered by Tickd.ai

When the mobile app displays a network connection error, it can prevent you from sending messages or viewing your chat history even if your device is connected to the internet. If you are facing the Claude app no network connection warning, the problem is typically caused by local network restrictions, virtual private networks (VPNs), or outdated app data.

Toggle aeroplane mode and refresh the connection

Sometimes your mobile device maintains a stale connection to a cellular tower or router. Toggle aeroplane mode on in your device settings, wait ten seconds, and turn it off again. This forces your phone to establish a clean connection to your network. Force-close the Claude app completely and reopen it to see if it successfully connects to the servers.

Disable active VPNs and custom DNS servers

Anthropic uses strict security and geolocation filters to protect its infrastructure. If you use a VPN, a custom secure DNS profile, or an ad-blocking proxy, Claude may block your connection at the gateway level. Disable your VPN or switch to your network provider's default DNS settings, then check if the app connects. If you find the app still refuses to load any interface elements, consult our troubleshooting guide on how to fix a Claude app that won't load.

Reset the app cache or reinstall Claude

Corrupted temporary files within the iOS or Android app can cause the application to falsely report that it has no internet connection.

On Android, navigate to Settings > Apps > Claude > Storage and tap 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Data'.

On iOS, you will need to offload or delete the app entirely. Uninstall the Claude app, restart your mobile device, and download the latest version from the official App Store or Google Play Store.

Check local firewall and Wi-Fi restrictions

If the connection error only appears when you are connected to a specific Wi-Fi network (such as at a school, office, or public café), the network administrator may have blocked access to AI platforms or non-standard ports. Try switching off your Wi-Fi and using cellular mobile data to confirm if local network blocking is the culprit. If cellular data works, you will need to use a different network or request that the administrator unblocks the claude.ai domain.
